Tomorrow
Tomorrow
Written and performed by Michael Okagaki; recorded on the album Yokohama, California by Bamboo Brew Recording in San Jose, CA, 1977.
BAND NOTE:
“I met Michael when he was 15 and I was the ripe old age of 20. This was at the Lake Sequoia Retreat in 1972 when he was in the beginning stages of his guitar journey. He was living at his parents’ house in San Jose and I was living in Berkeley, but my parents were in San Jose. I visited him and taught him some of the things that I had learned on guitar, so much so that when we recorded the Yokohama, California album five years later, he had learned to play in a style similar to mine.
He did show me that there are different paths to get to an end point. Being an extrovert, my first thought was about how to incorporate others when arranging a song. I didn’t know that he was not only writing Tomorrow, it wasn’t until he recorded it that I realized that it was perfect with just his guitar part and his vocal. It’s not that he didn’t want to include others in his songs, because he did play with others on subsequent songs, but on this song, it was a great way to go.” – Peter Horikoshi, Yokohama, CA
